Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G
I bought this lens from my favorite camera store at Hidalgo, Quiapo, Henry’s Camera Photo Supply. The store opens at 10am. I arrive past 10 and it was still close. I decided to just return and visit some camera stores around the place. When I got back, WOW, it was full! There are a lot of customers buying and inquiring inside the store already. What does that tell you huh? ;)
HOW MUCH???
Everybody’s question, how much? I’ve asked nearby stores and their price range from P11500 to P13700. If you visit henry’s website you’ll see that the price is P11000. I bought mine for P10800. Yup! 200 pesos less hmmm well actually 700! They said it was normally price at P11500 but when they asked their boss she said it was P10800. :p
There are no other freebies :( Only the lens pouch and lens hood included in the box…but that’s ok!
Other items I bought: Tiffen UV Filter (P300), Transcend 4GB SD Card (P800), Enelop 4 battery pack (P600).
I am P12,500 poorer after leaving the store. hahah!
RFB: Reason For Buying
I decided to purchase the 35mm f/1.8 instead of the 50mm f/1.4 because:
it’s perfect for my budget, my camera (Nikon D40), and the range is just right!
This lens has built-in motor which means it will auto focus on my D40. The 35mm range is perfect too especially if you are shooting inside a room or a studio. You don’t need to stick on the wall or go waaaay way far just to make your subject fit in the frame. This lens is good for portraits and of course for low light condition because of the f/1.8 aperture opening.

bakod ah…
,.magkanu na kaya ganyan ngayon?.. kasi i’m planning to buy my second lens pero di ako makapag decide kung yung Nikkor 18-200mm or yung prime lens nalang,.
huh?? 10800?? talaga?? mura namna?? nagtanong ako ngayon sa avenue 13k sakanila. bakit ganon?
@kiko, when I bought it last year that’s the price. Try mo inquire sa Henry’s baka bigyan ka rin ng discount. =)
@makai, depende kung ano yung usual mo na subject. Prime lens is perfect for portraits, 18-200 kung mahilig ka nmn mg travel or mg cover ng events para png all around.
ano ba po magandang lens para sa D3100?gusto ko po kasing palitan yon lens kaso hindi ko alam yon maganda…and how much po yon les na yon?
@Joanna Morales, It all depends on your usual subject,. if you’re still starting out, I suggest a mid-range lens like a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 or go for a Nikkor lens…of course it’s more expensive than a 3rd party lens.

I also like my Tokina 12-24 f4 UWA lens. You can see some of my samples here https://shutterbugsdesign.com/meet-my-new-lens-d/
If you’re on a budget, you can always buy a second hand lens. I highly recommend https://shutterbugsdesign.com/lenses-4-less-from-japan-to-the-philippines/
Hope that helps! Enjoy shooting! =)
[…] tried other Fujinon lens, I only tried this 35mm lens. If I were to compare the AF speed to Nikkor’s 35mm f1.8 lens, I would say that Fujinon is slower. I do love prime lens and the DOF it gives, despite the […]
